For mentees:

  • During referral windows, school counselors and social workers determine students and families that would be possible candidates for the program and have teachers complete the teacher rating scale.

    • Parents and community members may refer a student by contacting that student's counselor or completing a referral form online.

  • Family interviews with the Executive Director will be scheduled.

  • Families will be notified of the acceptance into or rejection from the program.

  • Accepted families will attend family orientation on the morning of match day where students will meet mentors.

*Outside Chance Mentorships aims to create purposeful mentorship matches. Families and students are only accepted into the program if a beneficial mentor match can be made based on backgrounds and interests.

For mentors:

  • At any time, potential mentors may complete the mentor application online.

  • Background and driver's license checks completed.

  • Personal references checked.

  • Mentor interview completed by the Executive Director.

  • Upon selection, mentors will attend mentor training. Training will be offered 2 times a year based on the student application window.

*Outside Chance Mentorships aims to create purposeful mentorship matches. Mentors are accepted into the program if a beneficial student match can be made based on backgrounds and interests.
